Books are now open for Mother's Day 2022. Strongly advise early ordering, as stock will be limited. |Due to the unprecedented circumstances of the recent worldwide pandemic, Florists everywhere are increasingly having to pre-order your flowers up to a month in advance of these peak times to try and ensure the best prices at auction for you, the customer. Why does this matter to you as a consumer? Well because if we didn't pre-order, we couldn't guarantee the best prices in advance, so our product would be much more expensive the later we left it before the event, and this cost has to be reflected somewhere. So we florists have to take a gamble every peak period, buying blindly, not knowing how much product we can sell, and with flowers being a degradable product, we only have a finite time in order to sell. So we play it safe, and keep our ordering low, so if we sell out, we sell out. Unfortunately, consumer buying patterns havent yet changed to adapt to this "playing it safe" option, so increasingly we are seeing customers being turned away as we simply have run out of product. And just to compound the problem, increasing costs everywhere due to Brexit, import costs, fuel costs, energy costs, has seen growers in the Netherlands reduce their output to save on their costs, so Globally there is still as much demand for less product available at the markets + higher prices are commanded at auction as a result = bigger costs all round. How can you help? Order in advance! Your Florist (and your pocket!) will be glad that you did.And your Mum.. as she's expecting your flowers!!
